Fresh from a 1-1 draw against Morocco Women’s National Team last weekend, the Copper Queens will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Moroccan Women’s Botola Pro. Division 2 side Phoenix Feminina Football Club.
The match will be their second friendly match in Morocco and it is set for 16:00hours local time which is 17:00hours Zambian Time.
Coach Bruce Mwape is expected to continue to fine-tune his squad ahead of the 12th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Mwape is expected to give almost all his players game time to make sure they shape up and put in a few minutes in their leagues ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Copper Queens may face a yet-to-be-confirmed nation on 28th June for their final preparatory match ahead of the next month’s AWCON.
The Copper Queens are in Group B alongside old-timers Cameroon whom they will play on 3rd July 2022 before facing Tunisia who is making a return to the tournament 3 days later and they will wrap up the group stage matches against debutants Togo on 9th July 2022.
The semi-finalists will automatically earn themselves a spot at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand while two quarter-finalists will have to battle it out in the inter-continental playoffs to book a ticket at the world’s biggest women’s tournament.
The tournament which will be hosted by Morocco will run from 2-23 July 2022.
