Newly appointed Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi made a perfect start to his career at ‘Chilata’ when he guided the former champions to a resounding 2 – 0 win at home against Green Buffaloes.
Chiyangi made one key change to the team bringing in Joseph Kanema in the starting line-up.
Buffaloes who themselves came in the game in good form having only lost once in the previous five game prior to this fell behind in the 8th minute via a Simon Bwalya goal.
The speedy winger benefited from a Shadreck Musonda cross to head home.
Substitute Tony Odur who replaced Claude Bwalya in the 55th minute turned provider for Musonda who scored the second goal in the 75th minute.
Nkana moved to seventh position on 16 points behind Nkwazi and Power Dynamos on goal difference.
In Chililabombwe, Zanaco extended their lead at the summit to four points when they beat Konkola Blades 1 – 0.
A 69th minute goal by Aubrey Funga was enough to give Zanaco maximum points.
Zanaco now have 24 points, with second placed Zesco United on 20 points with two games in hand.
Mufulira Wanderers went up to fourth behind Green Buffaloes on goal difference when they beat bottom placed Napsa Stars 2 – 1. Brian Ambungen and Rabby Lwambula scored for Mighty while Keagan Zulu scored for Napsa from a set piece.
Nkwazi missed a chance to move third when they were stopped in their tracks by Forest Rangers who beat the Police side by a goal to nil.
Nkwazi came into the game having won four of their last five games but they paid heavily for a less than impressive performance when Walter Bwalya scored the lone goal Forest which moved them from the relegation zone into 10th position.
Nakambala Leopards played out to a goalless draw with Nchanga Rangers in Mazabuka.

Chiyengi is just another Janza Nkana is Doomed!….Having Sate sate and Jackson Mwanza as the top scorer in our league for the past two seasons show just how poor it is.If its Jackson Mwanza he is just a pathetic big headed fool..That fool can kill you of bp
Lol with Janza stil coach u will die of bp coz it seems he is a big fan of jackson mwanza.
for Zambianfootball to reach the status of Ghana.Number key things is under 17 and under 20 these key stages are what makes great teams like ghana be where they are today.King Kalu needs to give chance to another energeitic person to take over. When people over stay itsa problem..Its the same case here in Ghana.Abedi pele did his part and we are still appreciatn him.
I sympathise zambia becoz they hav a low caliba coach who just watch his team losn aimlessly.. Zambia F.A shud do somthn. Why not try Christopher Kayongo. He can make a good assistand coach coz his even better than your crap coach JANZA.There are no degrees in football. You just use your brains. Atleast Keshi did us proud
During the Afcon Aggrey Chiyangi made a couple of appearances on super sport. Though not eloquent, he analysed games impressively. I was impressed with his ability to read the game. I’m sure he’ll make a fair contribution to Nkana.
The team that is surprising me this season is Zanaco. When I watched them earlier during the season I had the sense that they had no proper strikers. But from the results so far, their midfield is more than capable of compensating for the lack of a sharp front line.
For Zambia to reach the status of Ghana…………. blah, blah, blah, what football status does Ghana have? which Zambia should strive to reach?
