Zesco United FC has refuted claims by Chipolopolo Team Manager Lusekelo Kamwambi that the club has refused to release players to the national teams which is in camp preparing for the game against Malawi.
Reacting to a report on ZNBC, Zesco Media officer has stated that the club will be playing a rescheduled league during the week and they wrote to FAZ to seek guidance on the rescheduled game and players as they have eight players called to the national teams but have not received a response.
FULL STATEMENT BELOW
Zesco United Football Club would like to refute the statement attributed to National Team Manager Lusekelo Kamwambi on ZNBC TV2 news at 18:00hours that the club has refused to release the players summoned to camp.
The position of the club is that, the players are in camp in readiness for the week three rescheduled game to be played on Wednesday 6th May, 2015 against Nakambala Leopards in Mazabuka.
As a club we are guided by the rules of the Football Association of Zambia which state that a match can be postponed if a team has five or more players to the national team, in this case Zesco has eight players called to the under 23 and main national team and the FAZ secretariat was engaged over the matter unfortunately no response was given by close of business today.
It is unfortunate that Kamwambi issued such a statement aimed at bringing the name of the club in disrepute when he knows that the date of the rescheduled match was given to the club by FAZ before the players were called to the National team camp.
Zesco United will release the players namely Jacob Banda,Justin Zulu,Winston Kalengo,Kondwani Mtonga,Jackson Mwanza and Chishimba Changala,Bernard Mapili and John Ching’andu to the under 23 National Team after the Wednesday game.
Zesco will formally complain to FAZ against Kamwambi’s utterances which are uncalled for and aimed at discrediting the club.

Zesco is old people’s home all who were called for senior national they too old to play in developmental side . Leave them and chances to young blood . In future coaches should avoid call more than three players from one especially the games of this nature . Call Kondwani n zulu. The rest shud play for their club .
You don’t like zesco plays.
You don’t like zesco plays and the club.
2 many plyers frm 1 club they’ll thnk they ar only 1’s tht ar producng gud playas lets b fair we ar all zambians, 1 luv.
Is there anything wrong with that…. When the team is performing well so expect that e.g real madrid and Barcelona that’s were the national team comes from.
FAZ telling half truths yet again. Probability is that no one even read the communication from Zesco or they forgot to tell the team manager. Welcome to Zambian football management
FAZ management or maybe I should say lack off exposed once again. For a while I thought Lusekelo Kamwambi was one of the few sane ones at FAZ but it turns out he has been infected with the FAZ bug of doing s!!ly things like shooting his mouth off before he knows the facts.
It is getting dangerous to work for FAZ, you may end up with the FAZ bug of many things including incompetence.
Lol
Zesco united fc has good players who needs to given chance to play for national team, and it’s the best club among the that we have in this country.
Zesco are within their rights to hold on to players if they have a game on Wednesday simple!!!
Yes.
8 or 10 players can come from 1 team, look at Spain how many players came from Fc Barcelona they are certain things are inevietable in life.
Yes the same goes to germany national team about 8 them is from bayern munich
There is nothing wrong with players coming from one club to play for the national team… if they are the ones performing then why not?… would you rather have a mediocre team just so you can fuse in some under performing players??… I don’t think so!!
The issue is not about performing well, the age of the players worse they are playing chipante pante in Zambia . You people you want to turn chipolopolo into old people’s home. Kondwani 29 zulu 28 Felix 31 kalengo 30 Jackson 29. They shud play in developmental side because zesco is doin well . The truth is zesco is not doing well .they to compete with the best on the continent . If i was the national team coach these player wil never come in my mind when picking players for national duty . Learn from zim there development team qualified to play at all Africa games . The same is the one which is playing at senior level .
Totally agree with you @Tony Mash why give a chance to Madalas and grandpas if we are rebuilding Iwe just have to risk it by using the U20,23if we are to reap in future, period.
Football is about all ages what matters if the player still has the physic and skill. Many people just like talking if lose you will say becoz the instructor pick young players and vice vercer.look at adrea Pirlo for Chelsea wants sign him and he is 35 years. Please which village in zambia which has youths only?
One more thing if madalazi are top scorers and y the young can’t be top scorers.whom do choose a madala who bring results a young who cnt deliver?
Can someone tell me what Collins and Felix what dimentions they will bring to the team, firstly Felix is cluebless as usual and the team he was with in Eygpt is like at the level of Choma Eagles here and he failed lamentably, secondly as in for Collins is not the real deal as in the past even if he he playing is because of no real competition at his club.Pirlo is playing at the highest level, champions league, cup games and sorts while Collins and Felix are not even at top clubs or in African champions league competitions or any domestic cups for their clubs and you say they will bring depth,I do not think so mates.
To top it all we have enough Madalas in Kalaba in attack,Sunzu and Mweene in defence,Sinkala ,Chisamba,Singuluma in midfield hence the remaining positions are for the up coming lads not for grandpas who are always near the team when ever they are sacked from their teams and for how long will the squad come to their aid we need to find a way forward here folks by fusing in the young blood slowly not the Madalas the National team is not a charitable organasetion which will be coming to the aid of some few stupid not so serious players every time they mess up.
Don’t worry TM, this is just mpila wacibale, you can call other players across all leagues and expose them. This is a very low profile game, you don’t even need the Kalabas of this world. infant in our days(80s) such friendlies were played by Copperbelt select or midland select.
We have failed to build a team were we should be replacin players after sometime not every calling new players.we did not play Ngoma at Africon to give us result but for aim of selling him.A player is required to play atleast 5 times for the national for to play professioal football-its-its requirement.
