Nkana head coach Mwenya Chipepo has set his sights on securing maximum points in Lusaka as Kalampa prepare for back-to-back away fixtures against Nkwazi and Green Buffaloes.
Nkana will first face Nkwazi in a midweek MTN Super League Week 19 encounter at Edwin Imboela Stadium before turning their attention to a weekend showdown against Green Buffaloes at Reiz Arena.
Kalampa head into the capital brimming with confidence after recording four consecutive league victories. The impressive run has seen Nkana defeat ZESCO United, FC MUZA, Kansanshi Dynamos and FC Leopards, signalling a strong resurgence after a slow start to the season.
Despite the positive momentum, the 13-time MTN Super League champions remain 12th on the log with 22 points from 18 matches and are keen to continue climbing the standings.
“Both games against Nkwazi and Green Buffaloes are difficult. Even if the teams are not doing well, that makes the game even tougher. But we have prepared a very good side and we are ready to pick up these points,” Chipepo said.
Chipepo was quick to credit Nkana’s recent turnaround to hard work and the unwavering support from the club’s faithful.
“The four wins in a row have been through hard work. It wasn’t easy, but our supporters believed in us and supported us until we started winning,” Chipepo said.
Wednesday’s clash pits Nkana against 14th-placed Nkwazi, a side Kalampa have struggled against in recent seasons. Nkana are winless in their last five meetings with Nkwazi and last claimed victory over the Zambia Police sponsored outfit in 2023.
With confidence growing and momentum on their side, Nkana will be hoping to end that poor run and make a strong statement in Lusaka as they chase a much-needed double away victory.
