Former Zambian striker James Chamanga has been appointed as Technical Director at China League One side Liaoning Kiaxin following his retirement.
The 2012 African Cup of Nations went to China in 2008 after a successful spell at Moraka Swallows in South Africa.
Having hit 30 goals in over 100 appearances for Dalian Shide in China, the 38 year joined Liaoning where he has scored 41 goals.
Below is a statement from the club
After the club and James jointly decided to decide, from now on, James will no longer represent the first team to play in the League. As a meritorious foreign aid, James will enter the management of the club and serve as the Technical Director of the club, continuing to contribute to the Liaoning Hongyun [Kiaxin] Football Club.
James joined Liaoning Hongyun Football Club in 2013. In more than five years, James played 104 games for the Liaoning Hongyun team and scored 41 goals. He is the first foreigner to hit the over 100 games mark and his 41 goals will go down in the history of Liaozu. In the past two seasons, James’s playing time has continued to decline due to injuries. However, in daily training and competitions, James still has a dedication to work for the team. James’ sense of responsibility and professionalism have earned the team’s height. Recognition and praise.
The club thanks James for his determination and dedication the past five years. James has become an indispensable member of the Liaozu family. In addition to serving as the Technical Director of the club he will also oversee club training and personal learning as well as youth training and other fields that play an important role at the club.
We wish James all the best in his new job. I hope that the fans and friends from all walks of life will continue to support Li Zhao and support the Shenyang Hongyun Team.

If we will have some statues of sportsmen of note in front of Heroes stadium, Levi or somewhere, Chamanga and Jani Sikazwe could get one. Excellent character. You can do as many in the same place…Lol
We wont even be visiting them on daily basis. Just put them there. Kalu gets one and Denis Liwewe one. Kenneth Kaunda gets one as well. That’s all.
Fruits of discipline and hard work! Congrats James. Keep flying the Zambian flag high.
