Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) the sponsors of Power Dynamos FC who were the country’s flag bearers in the CAF Confederations Cup have indicated that they are proud of the team’s performance despite the team bowing out of the competition in the first round after a 4 – 3 aggregate loss to CF Mounana of Gabon.
In a statement released by CEC, the company congratulated Power Dynamos for flying the Zambian flag high stating that the team lived up to their promise to beat the Gabonese side.
“Sadly the result fell short of the 5-0 target that Power needed to overturn the 4-0 loss that they suffered in the first leg on March 22 in Libreville, therefore Power are now out of the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup,” the statement read.
“To Power Dynamos we say well done , thank you for flying Zambia’s flag high, You rock!”

And Power Dynamos coach Tenant Chilumba said he was disappointed with the weekend result stating that he now has to go back to the drawing board.
“We have a very good team. Everyone expected us to win but of course we are disappointed with the result but we have to go back to the drawing board,” Chilumba told the Daily Mail.
yeah well…here we go again praising a team for failing. We seriously need to end this nonsensical culture of praising failure.

Power Dynamos won the Rothmans international cup in Ivory Coast in 1983 and won the Africa cup winners cup (CAF cup) in 1991. If in 1992 the team was eliminated at the same stage they have been eliminated this year, was the team going to be praised by sponsors for the under performance? The answer is no! The reason the sponsors are now praising mediocrity is because we are now used to failure and very average success. How do you praise a team which has failed to go beyond the second round!

Praising mediocrity is our pride as Zambians. Infact its our success. If Ghanians are booted out of the AFCON in the semis they chase the coach,if CIV lose in the finals they chase the coach but if we Zambians are booted in the first round,we keep the coach and start praising them. Thats the difference between a Country that is serious and a joke like Zambia.
