Horoya 2 – 0 Zesco Utd (As it happened)

Zesco United this evening take in Horoya AC of Guinea the CAF Champions League first round second leg to be played in Conakry, Guinea.

The Zambian champions arrived in Guinea on Friday without head coach George Lwandamina who remained in Ndola to drill the national team.

Assistant Tenant Chembo takes charge in the dug-out.

Zesco carry a comfortable 4 – 1 lead into the second leg after overwhelming the West African with some sleaky football which saw Idriss Mbombo, Jesse Were, Clatous Chama and Maybin Mwaba score.

Horoya however have turned their home ground into a fortress and will be a difficulty opponent to play as they have only lost once at home in the last 12 months having played 17 games in all competitions.

Zesco are generally poor travelers having onli won once in the last 5 games in the competition but they seemed to have turned the corner this year as they were 1 – 0 victors away against Al Ghazal in South Sudan in the preliminary round.

Zesco do not necessary have to win the match to progress in the competition but they have enough ammunition in their bag to win and to ultimately reach the group stages this season.

Chembo is expected to name an unchanged XI for the game.

The game kicks off at 1900hrs CAT.

Zesco probable XI

Jacob Banda – Simon Silwimba, Ben Adama Bahn, Dauti Musekwa, David Owino, Anthony Agay, Clatous Chama, Misheck Chaila, Idriss Mbombo, Jesse Were, John Chnganduh

  1. As a KWFC Supporter I wish you well. Especially if you can weather the psychological warfare to be waged against you outside and on the pitch, then we shall celebrate. ZESCOLO Team ya Ziko, Lets do it for Mother Zambia.

  2. Second half is about to begin and Zega trail by 2 goals to nil with a man down…As things stand should Horoya score a third in the second half then its curtains closed for Zesco

  3. Zesco are under a lot of pressure….Tenant chembo is trying to steady the ship and give the team some potence going forward….Mwape Mwelwa and Jackson Mwanza have both come in during the second half but still the pressure is in Zegas half

  4. I hear the ref is also against Zesco. Thats the problem of playing in Africa especially west and north africa. Those guys are very cruel. You don’t only play against the home teams and their supporters, but also the ref. Thats African football for you.

  5. …Looks like they gave him a brown envelop. 2 goals scored from the spot, a red card and corner kicks flowing against sums up everything.

  6. Zesco is under severe pressure. It wave after wave of attack for Horoya. It’s either corner or free kick to Horoya. Zesco almost there now.

  7. Mmmmmm. I think we are are too negative at times. Yes ,signalled referee’s optional time was six minutes but it does not mean that only six minutes will be played. It actually implies that the minimum referee’s optional time to be played is six minutes.
