CAF Confederation Cup: Nkana 2 – 0 TAS (18′ Freddy Tshimenga, Obeddy Masumbuko 85′)
Nkana FC have continued their unbeaten run at home in Africa when they made easy work of visiting Tihad Athlétique Sport De Casablanca (TAS Casablanca) from Morocco who they beat 2 – 0 in the pre-group stage play offs of the competition.
A goal on either side of the half from Freddy Tshimenga and Obeddy Masumbuka sealed the points for the hosts in a game that saw the playing field terribly compromised in the second half after a heavy downpour.
Nkana controlled most portions of the game from the start and knocking the ball around confidently. This was despite their lack of incisive passing into the box. They however deserved to be ahead at the break after Tshimenga reacted first to a rebound to give Nkana the lead in the
Neither teams could have fancied coming out for the second half as pools of water had collected on the laying field and it was difficulty to complete passes.
Nkana however continued to be more positive going forward and they clinched a second in the 85th minute through Masumbuko who smashed home from the top of the box.
Kalampa will take a two goal cushion into the second leg that will be played on Sunday next week in Casablanca.
