Big Wins for Power, Arrows as Title Race Intensifies

Defending champions Power Dynamos and log leaders Red Arrows recorded crucial victories on Sunday to keep the MTN Super League title race finely poised, with just a single point separating the top two sides after Week 22 action.

Elsewhere, Kabwe Warriors claimed a solid away win over Green Buffaloes, while Green Eagles edged Kansanshi Dynamos 2-1 in Choma in a match that resumed after being halted on Saturday due to a heavy downpour.

Arrows Maintain Summit

At Nkoloma Stadium, Red Arrows defeated ZESCO United 3-1 to preserve their slender one-point lead at the summit.

Angel Lubamba handed the Airmen an early advantage in the 3rd minute, setting the tone for a high-tempo encounter. 

ZESCO responded through Amine Hiver, who levelled matters in the 42nd minute.

However, Arrows regained control in the second half. 

Alassane Diarra restored the lead in the 58th minute before Albert Kangwanda sealed the victory deep into stoppage time (90+4), netting his 10th goal of the season to cap off a professional display.

Abayellow Respond in Style

In Kitwe, Power Dynamos underlined their championship pedigree with a 3-1 comeback victory over Nchanga Rangers.

Jacob Kaunda stunned the hosts with an early goal in the 6th minute, but Abayellow responded strongly after the break. 

Frederick Mulambia drew them level in the 47th minute before Innocent Kashita put the defending champions ahead in the 75th minute. Chifundo Mpasi wrapped up the win in stoppage time (90+1).

The result moves Power Dynamos to 42 points, just one behind leaders Red Arrows, setting up a thrilling run-in.

Warriors March On

At Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Kabwe Warriors secured a 2-0 victory over Green Buffaloes.

Simon Tonga broke the deadlock in the 51st minute before Saith Sakala sealed the win with a well-taken goal in the 85th minute to ensure maximum points for the Magnificent People’s Team.

Mutondo and Eagles Secure Important Wins

Mutondo Stars boosted their survival hopes with a convincing 2-0 triumph over FC Leopards. Joseph Wa Kiala Kiala was the hero, scoring in the 25th and 51st minutes to hand his side a valuable three points.

In Choma, Green Eagles completed a 2-1 comeback win over Kansanshi Dynamos in the continuation of the fixture that had been halted in the 15th minute on Saturday due to heavy rains.

Kansanshi had led through Aaron Musore before Mathews Banda restored parity after the restart. Derrick Bulaya then struck in the 72nd minute to seal victory for the Kawale Boys, a result that lifts them to seventh position on the log.
