Austin Banda talks debut CAF Confederation Cup season

NAPSA Stars winger Austin Banda has expressed delight to be playing at the highest level in Africa, the CAF Confederation Cup, group stage.

Banda who spoke to the ZamFoot Crew before the Pensioners 2-0 loss at the hands of defending Champions, RS Berkane wants to repay the sponsors for the continuous support they have lent to the team.

“It’s my first time playing CAF and even reaching this far in the group stage so like as an individual it’s a bonus and a plus. It’s good for my exposure because they are a lot of agents out there and we are also doing it for our team especially our sponsors they have done enough for us it’s time for us to pay back so doing this for them will also increase our chances of progressing into the next round,” he said.

Austin Banda has seen the good and bad during his time at Napsa from fighting relegation to playing continental football.

“Like the Time that I joined Napsa we were struggling we were fighting relegation we thank God that we have reached this far no one expected us to reach this fat.”

Banda was in action yesterday playing in his very first group stage match and put in a 48-minute shift for the Pensioners in their loss away in Morocco. Hamza Hiamiani Akabi put the hosts in the lead in the 12th minute while Mouhssine Iajour sealed the result a minute before halftime.

Next up for NAPSA Stars is a home tie against Algeria outfit JS Kabylie on Wednesday, 17th March at the National Heroes Stadium.
