Aguila Stars set up base in Harare ahead of CAF U17 GIFT tournament openerĀ 

ZAMBIA’S representative at the second edition of the 2025 CAF U-17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) Aguila Stars Women Football Club has set up base in Harare, Zimbabwe ahead of their opening fixture on Tuesday.

Aguila will kick off their Group B campaign on Tuesday, December 9 with a tie against Okakarara Golden Ladies of Namibia at 15h00 before facing Lishoeshoe of Lesotho on December 12 at Ngoni Stadium.

Aguila will wrap up their group stages on December 15 with an encounter against Refilwe from South Africa at 15h00 at the same venue.

The newly promoted Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Lusaka Province Division One Women’s League side Aguila is taking part in this tournament for the first time 

The tournament which kicked off on Monday December 8 with a total of 8 teams drawn from countries such as Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe will run upto December 18 in Harare.

The inaugural edition of the CAF U-17 GIFT Tournament was staged in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in January 2025 and was won by a local side JKT Queens, who beat compatriots TDS Girls 2-1 I’m the final.

According to CAF Head of Women’s Football Meskerem Tadesse Goshime, The CAF GIFT U-17 Tournament was created to fill an important gap in Women’s Football. It also aims to offer girls under the age of 17, who often play in senior leagues an opportunity to compete at a higher level.
