Zesco United name Champions League squad as KalenGoal returns

Zambia’s representatives in the CAF Champions League Zesco United have named the 28 man squad that will compete in Africa.

Coach Tenant Chembo has named a mix of youth and experience including former 2017 Zambia U20 national team skipper Solomon Sakala and 2015 league and club top scorer Winstone (KaleGoal) Kalengo (32) who returns to the club after a two year professional stint in Congo Brazzaville.

The Zambian Super League champions have retained the core of the team that reached the group stage of the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup and have added some added some exceptional performers from the 2017 season to their team who include Logic Chingandu, Edward Tembo, teen striker Lameck Banda and Adams Zikiru who had the best goal scoring ratio per game in the league.

The Ndola side peeped erstwhile champions Zanaco to the league title and will be looking to lift the Champions League trophy having fallen at the semi final stage last time they participated in the competition in 2016.

They will then fly to South Africa for a 10 day training camp before flying out to Zanzibar for their first game of the 2018 CAF Champions League campaign on 9th of February against JKU.
