Zesco United in Angola for CAF Champions League assignment

Zambia’s representative in the Total CAF Champions League 2019/20 Season, Zesco United are already in Angola ahead of tomorrow’s Group A match against Primero D’ Agosto in Luanda slated for November 11 Stadium with kick-off at 17:00hrs Local Time(18:00hrs CAT).

Zesco United who are fondly known as Zega Mambo will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run this season and eventually end their winless drought in Angola having lost their previous two CAF outings in Luanda and Calulo and would want to revenge their 2-1 loss against Agosto in the same competition last year which was their second visit in that country.

Coach George Lwandamina drilled side who are injury-free travelled with all his live ammunition and will be aiming to start their Group phase journey on a high note and will opt to bank on the availability of club’s top goalscorer Jackson Jesse Were who is in good form and the experienced Winston Kalengo upfront to guard the team to victory by scoring the much needed goals in-game that promises to be a cracker.

They will, however, have to work hard overcome a resilient Agosto side who are bubbling with confidence coming from a 4-1 away win in the Girabola Zap League Week 12 match against CRD Libolo a team that Coincidentally edged Zesco United 3-0 in their first visit to Angola in 2017 in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Elsewhere in Lubumbashi, Congolese Giants TP Mazembe will have a home date against Zamalek in the other Group A mouthwatering encounter at TPM Stadium which will Kick-Off at 15:00hrs CAT.

  1. Sibs says:

All the best to Zesco in Angola. The last time they played Agosto they game was 1-1 until Agosto scored a goal in the 98th minute. 1-1 would meant Zesco go through on away goals. The Ref shockingly gave 9 minutes added time for the Angolans to score. It was actully 1-0 to Zesco up until the 90th minute when Agosto equalised and they got the second late after time had elapsed.
Clear “robbery” in that game. The guys on Soccer Africa Show even mentioned on the show that Zesco was robbed. African Soccer even VAR can be rigged!!
