ZESCO Ndola Girls hit 7 past Mufulira as Indeni, Lusaka Dynamos and Red Arrows record wins

Red Arrows Women’s football club made it three wins in a row as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Zone B leaders YASA handing them their first loss in the 2021/2022 FAZ Women’s League season.

Indeni Roses also continued with their fine form in the 2021/22 FAZ Women’s National League season after a hard fought 2-nil victory over Nkwazi in a match week 6 while Green Eagles picked up their first point of the season after settling for a barren draw with Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club whereas Lusaka Dynamos got back to winning ways with a 2-nil victory over Queens Academy in Zone B.

Meanwhile in Zone A, ZESCO Ndola Girls are back on fire as they thrashed Mufulira Wanderers 7-1 in Mufulira while Solwezi Academy Queens and National Assembly shared spoils in North-Western Province.

RED ARROWS 3-0 YASA

Mary Mulenga scored a brace while Ochumba Oseke Lubanji added a goal as the Airwomen thrashed YASA 3-0 at Nkoloma Stadium.

The match was only the third for Red Arrows and they made sure they maintain their unbeaten run and move to second place with 9 points.

For, YASA this is their first defeat of the season having won their opening five games. They remain top of Zone B.

NKWAZI QUEENS 0-2 INDENI ROSES (NORIA SOSALA, PAMELA LUBINDA (OG)

High Flying Nkwazi hosted Indeni Roses in an intriguing Zone B crush at Imboela Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.

Nkwazi were going into this game unbeaten in 4 games knowing very well that a victory would take them back on top of the table while the Smart Roses were aiming to continue with their fine form and winning streak.

It was a game that was dominated by Nkwazi with slick style of play, however Indeni Roses experience counted when veteran Noria Sosala scored the opening goal and that was enough for the first half to seperate the two sides as the visitors led 1-nil at the break.

After the resumption, Nkwazi continued piling pressure from were they left off in the first half where they missed a myriad of opportunities inside the box with the likes of Precious Nsama being a main threat in the Roses half alongside Dorothy Daka who also had her own share of opportunities including a free kick that hit the cross bar.

Roses’ Catherine Musonda was the busier of the two goalminders with some great saves denying Nkwazi what could have been their biggest victory of the season.

Nkwazi’s Gift Wezzy Mkandawire was a marvel to watch in the middle of the park but she had a tough challenge beating the experienced Rhoda Chileshe who combined so well with captain of the side Esther Mukwasa and Sarah Moyo.

Nkwazi were punished for the second time in deep stoppage time when goalkeeper Eunice Sakala failed to deal with a Rhoda Chileshe’s free kick from the left flank after being disturbed by Sarah Moyo and Pamela Lubinda sent the ball into her own net with a thunderbolt as she was trying to clear the ball out for safety and that was enough for the day as Indeni walked away with maximum points.

Indeni are now second on the table with 12 points, tied at par with log leaders Green Buffaloes but only separeted on goal difference while Nkwazi have dropped to third with 10 points.

GREEN EAGLES 0-0 ZISD WOMEN

Green Eagles picked up their first point of the season after they were held to a goalless draw by visitors ZISD in a match that was played at ZNS Chamba Valley Ground.

ZISD were the favorites going into this match but Eagles stood their feet and they gave the visitors a good run for their money in this lunch time Kick-off match.

Eagles felt they were denied what looked like a goal after Amira Njobvu’s shot ricocheted off the cross bar but the referee Mataa Mwambafu did not give anything as it was a debatable situation which needed VAR review.

ZISD influential midfielder Suzene Evaline Katongo was highly policed in this match and was hardly given enough room to penetrate in the middle of the park but at the end of the day spoils were shared with ZISD dissapointed with the result while Eagles were happy to have collected at least a point though a win was almost in their pockets.

LUSAKA DYNAMOS LADIES 2-0 QUEENS ACADEMY (DIANESS MUPAKA, SIOMALA MAPEPA)

Lusaka Dynamos Ladies got back to winning ways as they utilized their home ground advantage beating Queens Academy 2-nil at NASDEC Ground.

A goal in each half from Dianess Mupaka and Siomala Mapepa was all that the Elite Ladies needed to overcome The Queens of Kabwe who are yet to rediscover their winning rhythm this season.

This victory by the Elite Ladies has taken them up to third position on the log standing with 8 points, 7 points behind log leaders YASA Queens.

MUFULIRA WANDERERS 1-7 ZESCO NDOLA GIRLS (REGINA KAYAMBOMA | PENELOPE MULUBWA X2, AVELL CHITUNDU X2, MINIVA CHITINA, MELODY KIPIMPI, ILLESS PHIRI)

Mufulira Wanderers were electrocuted at their own backyard as they succumbed to a 7-1 loss at the hands of ZESCO Ndola Girls at Shinde Stadium.

Penelope Mulubwa and Avell Chitundu scored a brace each while it was a good day at the office for the defenders Miniva Chitina and captain of the side Melody Kipimpi who were also on the scoresheet with a goal apiece alongside Illess Phiri while Wanderers goalpoacher Regina Kayamboma scored the consolation goal for the Abena Milambo Ladies.

This was Zegalicious second victory of the season taking them to 7 points on position 5 while Wanderers are sixth with 4 points.

SOLWEZI ACADEMY QUEENS 0-0 NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Solwezi Academy Queens failed to utilize their home ground advantage as they were held to a goalless draw by winless National Assembly.

Solwezi are still on seventh position with 4 points, 1 better than Assembly who are stuck on eighth position.
