Zanaco’s opponents in CAF Confed cup group stage revealed
Zambia’s only CAF Confederations Cup representative Sensational Zanaco have been drawn in Group C of the Total CAF Confederations Cup 2019/20 group stage.
During the draws conducted this afternoon in Cairo, Egypt, witnessed by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, the draws were conducted by CAF Director of Competitions Samson Adamu who was assisted by Edgar Watson from Uganda and former DRC captain Herita Ilunga, the Bankers have been drawn alongside last season’s finalist RS Berkane from Morocco, Motema Pembe from DR Congo and debutants ESAE Fc from Benin.
With the games expected to begin next month and will be played between December 2019 and March 2020, The Bankers will have all to play for as they aim to maintain their Impressive record in this current season.
There will be 3 games for the Bankers in December and will begin with a date against DC Motema Pembe from our neighbouring country DR Congo on 1st December 2019 before hosting Morocco’s RS Berkane a week later in Lusaka.
Then they will have a two week’s rest away from continental engagement before getting back to the business at the December month-end.
The Coach Numba Numamba side will then have back-to-back fixtures against debutants ESAE Fc from Benin who are actually the first team from that country to qualify to the Confederations Cup Group Stage away from the on December 29, 2019, and then will welcome the Sakété based club on 16th February 2020.
A week later they will play host to Motema Pembe on 23rd February 2020 and will wrap up their Total CAF Confederations Cup Group C matches with an away tie in Berkane against the Oranges on 8th March 2020.
The Bankers were on bye in the preliminary round before recording their first win against Bolton City 2-1 away and 3-0 at home and went on to set up a date against Equatogunean Champions Cano Sports Academy in the first round.
Zanaco qualified to the Group Stages after an excellent performance beating Cano Sport Academy 3-1 away in Malabo and finished off the Business in Lusaka with a comfortable 5-1 victory to record an overall 8-2 aggregate scoring as they continued to enjoy 100% winning record in the Total CAF Confederations Cup 2019/2020 Season and are yet to concede defeat having won all their matches both home and away in this current campaign.
