ZamFoot team of the week: Chamanga named player of the week
The MTN/FAZ Super league week 14 was an interesting work with Nakambala Leopards surprising the bankers at the Nakambala Stadium (The Airport) while Zesco United returned to winning ways walloping Mighty Mufulira Wanderers by six goals to nil.
Nkana had to fight back from a goal down to beat Maestro United Zambia while Buildcon and Napsa played out to a two two draw in an entertaining encounter. On Sunday it was a James Chamanga show as the 39 year old scored a brace to lead the Airmen to a 2-1 win over Lusaka dynamos.
The ZamFoot Crew monitored the games and as usual came up with the best eleven of the week.
Full Team of the week
GK: Ian Otieno (Red Arrows), The Uganda shot stopper was outstanding in the Red Arrows goal when they beat Lusaka dynamos 2-1 and hence peeps Philip Banda of Napsa Stars to the goalkeeper position for the ZamFoot team of the week.
LCB: Kebby Kamanga (Nkwazi), One of the new inclusions in the Zambia U23 national team otherwise known as ‘Bola Na Lesa’ boys, Kebby has been impressive so far this season. The Nkwazi left back was impressive both defending and going forward creating chances despite Nkwazi strikers failure to score against Green Eagles.
CB: Chilufya George (Lusaka dynamos), The Lusaka dynamos defender has been impressive all season and Sunday was no different as put in a good shift despite finding himself on the losing end.
RCB: Clement Mwape (Zesco United), The Former Kabwe Warriors captain has established himself at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and has become a key player for the George Lwandamina coached side. On Saturday he was outstanding again and also scored a goal as Zesco white-washed Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 6-0.
DMF: Isaac Shamujompa (Buildcon ), The Chipolopolo defender was deployed in a defensive midfielder role and he was very good in it holding the ball well, disrupting play and good distribution.
CM: Marvin Jere (Lusaka dynamos), The ‘Marvel’ played against Red Arrows with an injury and had to use pain Killers but that did not stop him as he put in a good showing.
LMF :Lameck Banda (Buildcon ), The Zambia U23 national team winger was devastating as usual and gave Bornwell Silengo a tough time as he kept him on his toes through out the match. He was always a threat and lively all through the game.
RMF: Aaron Kabwe (Napsa Stars ), The Napsa Stars winger was effective on the wing. He used his pace well and scored a very good goal to open his Napsa Stars goal account.
LCF: Quadri Kola (Zesco United), The Nigeria forward was in tip top form as he netted a brace to help Zesco United thrash Mufulira Wanderers 6-0.
RCF: Simon Mulenga (Nakambala Leopards ), The Former Lusaka dynamos forward scored a brace to help Nakambala Leopards shock Stream A log leaders , Sensational Zanaco 4-2 in Mazabuka.
CF: James Chamanga (Red Arrows ) , The veteran striker scored a brace to lead Red Arrows to a 2-1 win over Lusaka dynamos.
Player of the week: James Chamanga, The 39 year old’s brace which included on of the fastest goals this season (35 seconds) proved he has a lot to offer to the Zambia Super league and it was enough to earn him the player of the week accolade.
Coach of the Week : Zeddy Saileti, The Former Nkana striker masterminded the downfall of Numba Mumamba’s Sensational Zanaco and hence he wins the coach of the week.
