Arrows’ Felix Bulaya is player of the week
The Zambia Super League has gone on recess for two weeks after eleven weeks of exciting and entertaining football played across the country.
The teams with games in hand will still be in action in this period but overall the league won’t be in full swing.
The ZamFoot Crew comes back with the weekly selection of the best players across the league. Felix Bulaya scored a brilliant goal for the Airmen but was it good enough to cut? let’s wait and see.
FULL TEAM OF THE WEEK:
GK: Mathias Kigonya – Forest Rangers, The Fole Malembe shot-stopper was in top form as the Ndola giants forced a point away to Green Buffaloes at Nkoloma Stadium.
Kigonya made at least five superb saves to make sure Forest Rangers walked away with a point in their game on Saturday and was named as the official player of the match.
LB: Jack Ngulube – Young Green Eagles, The left-footed defender was very impressive against Red Arrows despite his team losing 2-0 to the Airmen. His set-piece taking technique and ability is also something worth mentioning.
RB: Benedict Chepeshi – Red Arrows, The Red Arrows skipper was impressed with his performance against Young Green Eagles and also provided an assist for Felix Bulaya’s well cracker of a goal against the Kafue based side.
CB: Solomon Sakala – Zesco United, The 2017 U-20 AFCON winning captain has found game time hard to come by at Zesco United but when he was handed a starting berth in Choma he took it with both arms and put in shift and half against Tonka Twende helping Zesco United to record a draw at Choma’s Independence Stadium.
CB: Warren Kunda – Green Eagles, The Green Eagles defender was very impressive against Zesco United on Friday and won a lot of aerial duels against Winston Kalengo helping Eagels keep a clean sheet.
DMF: Leonard Mulenga – Green Buffaloes, The Chipolopolo midfield ace has continued to impress and Saturday was no different as he dominated the midfield in the Soldiers draw with Fole Malembe.
CM: Collins Sikombe – Lusaka Dynamos, The most in-form player in the league was scored the only goal of the game Lusaka Dynamos beat Indeni 1-0 at the Cage, Indeni Sports Complex.
RW: Abraham Siankombo- Zanaco, The young winger came from the bench to net twice in the Bankers impressive 4-0 win over Lumwana Radiants, a performance worthy of recognizing.
Lw: Felix Bulaya – Red Arrows, The former Nakambala Leopards player set up a goal and scored a screamer as Red Arrows beat Young Green Eagles 2-0.
CF: Moses Phiri – Sensational Zanaco, The league top goalscorer so far score a brace and set up another goal as Zanaco run riot against Lumwana Radiants.
CF: Chipili Mungule – Green Buffaloes, The Green Buffaloes forward scored a beautiful header and was a constant threat for the Forest Rangers defense.
Player of the week – Felix Bulaya ( Red Arrows ), The former Nakambala Leopards performance was our pick of the week for player of the week, a great showing for the Airman.
Coach of the week- Mwenya Chipepo (Prison Leopards), The Prison Leopards boss is again our coach of the week after masterminding a 1-0 win at President Stadium against Buildcon.
Mwenya Chipepo’s men go into the two-week recess with 17 points just two adrift of log leaders Zesco United, no one would have predicted this brilliant start for Mwenya Chipepo and his team.
