Zambia’s win over Algeria etched in Brian Mwila’s memory

Zambia national team striker Brian Mwila says Zambia’s 3-1 win over Algeria in September 2017 at Heroes Stadium was the best of his national team career so far.

The Austrian based forward Mwila scored a brace and helped Zambia to a 3-1 win over Algeria in the 2018 World Cup qualification match.

Mwila went on to reveal that playing for Zambia at the World Cup is a dream of his.

“I had an amazing experience and it motivated me to work extra hard and do better,” Mwila told the ZamFoot Crew.

“Of course the game against Algeria was my best and I felt quite brave and courageous because It was a world cup qualifier game and me playing at the world cup for my country is my biggest goal so I took that game as a ladder to take the team to the top and I was mentally and physically prepared for it and we really believed in ourselves as a team,” Mwila added.

Mwila has been struggling with an injury since 2017 but says he is now recovering and he is fully concentrated on getting to full fitness.

“With God all things are possible, I have struggled with this injury since 2017 and it has really affected me in many ways but I thank God I am getting better, at the moment I want to concentrate on my fitness and recovery. The future is promising. I pray I get back stronger so as to continue where I ended.”

He started his career at Lime Hotspurs then went on to play for Kabwe Warriors. In 2015, Green Buffaloes signed him and he was the key man for the club.

In 2017 he earned his first national team call-up and went on to score 8 goals in 11 matches for the national team, that form saw him sign for Premier Soccer League side Platinum Stars.

Mwila is currently on the books of Austrian Bundesliga outfit SCR Altach.
