Zambia vs South Africa ZamFoot Crew ratings

Zambia U23 national team played to a goalless draw with South Africa in their U23 AFCON opener on Saturday. The ZamFoot Crew now brings their rating of the players based on their performance on the day.

Mangani Banda 5/10 – The skipper was solid in goal. He had a couple of nervous moments when he came off his line but failed to deal with crosses. One grave error when distributing almost cost the team

Shemmy Mayembe 6/10 – Defended well and did not let many passes on his side. Was effective with his crosses

Prosper Chiluya 5/10 – Showed grit when defending but the South Africans seemed to have a lot of joy through his side

Solomon Sakala 7/10 – Calm and did not let anything pass him. Was always quick to cover Prosper whenever he pushed forward

Moses Nyondo 6/10 – Was winning balls on the ground and in the air. Solid defending, he was caught in possession at one point and was lucky not to get a yellow card

Ngosa Sunzu 8/10 – Dictated and controlled the tempo of the game. Screened the back four effectively and when he got forward, he was close to scoring only for the keeper to keep out his effort

Emmanuel Banda 7/10 – One of his best games, was chasing everything when Zambia was defending and when in possession, he showed a good range of passing. He gave a threat in attack with his ability to shoot from distance

Edward Chilufya 6/10 – He looked dangerous when he attacked through the middle but unfortunately spent more time wide and defending. His cut-back found Biston Banda for the ball that was cleared off the line

Biston Banda 5/10 – Full of running but he was not effective in front of goal. He failed to bury the chance that was cleared off the line

Lameck Banda 5/10 – Great talent and pace but he failed to provide a cross that picked his attacker or at least hit the target. With the goal at his mercy, he shot over the bar for a rebound

Harrison Chisala 5/10- He looked dangerous was full of energy when he came on but did not manage to change the trajectory of the match.

Field Kandela (not available)- Did not have enough time to be rated.

Oliver Lumbiya (Not Available) – Did not have enough time to be rated.

    Don’t know how you watch. Really negative personalities in Zambia has to stop.
    This kind rating spoils mood in players. This is bad.
    For example: Prosper Chiluya was the best player on the day, the boy deserves a 10/10.
    second best was Emmanuel Banda yes, unfortunately got injured.
    It is good you didn’t include your Kings Kangwa in your ratings, he even got some yellow cards.
    That was best game from both Zambia and South Africa, and all commentators at tournament enjoyed it, except our own Zambian Zamfoot.
