Zambia vs South Africa ZamFoot Crew ratings
Zambia U23 national team played to a goalless draw with South Africa in their U23 AFCON opener on Saturday. The ZamFoot Crew now brings their rating of the players based on their performance on the day.
Mangani Banda 5/10 – The skipper was solid in goal. He had a couple of nervous moments when he came off his line but failed to deal with crosses. One grave error when distributing almost cost the team
Shemmy Mayembe 6/10 – Defended well and did not let many passes on his side. Was effective with his crosses
Prosper Chiluya 5/10 – Showed grit when defending but the South Africans seemed to have a lot of joy through his side
Solomon Sakala 7/10 – Calm and did not let anything pass him. Was always quick to cover Prosper whenever he pushed forward
Moses Nyondo 6/10 – Was winning balls on the ground and in the air. Solid defending, he was caught in possession at one point and was lucky not to get a yellow card
Ngosa Sunzu 8/10 – Dictated and controlled the tempo of the game. Screened the back four effectively and when he got forward, he was close to scoring only for the keeper to keep out his effort
Emmanuel Banda 7/10 – One of his best games, was chasing everything when Zambia was defending and when in possession, he showed a good range of passing. He gave a threat in attack with his ability to shoot from distance
Edward Chilufya 6/10 – He looked dangerous when he attacked through the middle but unfortunately spent more time wide and defending. His cut-back found Biston Banda for the ball that was cleared off the line
Biston Banda 5/10 – Full of running but he was not effective in front of goal. He failed to bury the chance that was cleared off the line
Lameck Banda 5/10 – Great talent and pace but he failed to provide a cross that picked his attacker or at least hit the target. With the goal at his mercy, he shot over the bar for a rebound
Harrison Chisala 5/10- He looked dangerous was full of energy when he came on but did not manage to change the trajectory of the match.
