The Zambia Under 20 has withdrawn from the Four Nations tournament, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed.
The tournament that will take place in Lilongwe this week is being played alongside the senior tournament.
No reason has been forwarded as to why Zambia withdrew from the junior tournament.
Following Zambia’s withdraw, the Under 20 competition remains with three teams Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
As such the format of the competition has changed from knockout to round robin and will start on Wednesday March 20 and not Thursday March 21, 2024 as earlier announced. .
The Under 20 matches has also been moved from Bingu National Stadium to Silver Stadium.
The schedule for the Senior National teams remain the same as earlier announced with all the four teams available for the competition.
Zimbabwe Under 20 national team arrived in Lilongwe on Sunday while Kenya is expected to arrive on Tuesday.
Zimbabwe Seniors will arrive in two groups with the first one expected to jet in this afternoon while the last group will arrive on Tuesday.
Zambia will arrive on Tuesday while Kenya’s Harammbe Stars will arrive on Thursday.
The following is the fixture for the Under 20 event:
1. Malawi vs. Zimbabwe : Wednesday 20th March 2024
2. Kenya vs. Zimbabwe Friday 22nd March 2024
3. Malawi vs. Kenya Sunday 24th March 2024
