Zambia Super League returns in three weeks

The 2020/2021 Zambia Super League will kick off on the 31st of October while the new Zambian football season will kick off a week earlier on Independence day the ZamFoot Crew understands.

The new season was set to start on the 17th of this month but the ZamFoot Crew understands that the dates have been moved to month-end.

The Zambian football season traditionally kicks off with the annual Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu and this time will be no different. Champions Nkana will square off with newcomers and 2019/2020 National Division One winner Indeni football club in the curtain-raiser on the 24th of October to officially open the new season.

The seasonal opener will take place on the Copperbelt the ZamFoot Crew can reveal.

The 2019/2020 season was cut short by the Coronavirus epidemic and saw Nkana crowned Champions winning their record 13th title.

The two most successful clubs in the last two decades, Zesco United and Sensational Zanaco failed to qualify for Continental football and will be eager to get back to the pitch and change the status quo at the end of the season. Zesco United have a new coach in Numba Mumamba who is keen to prove his worth after he was fired at Sunset Stadium at the start of the year.

Indeni football club has already made a warning shot by winning the NAPSA Stars organized ‘Big Six’ Pre-season tournament ahead of clubs like Zanaco, NAPSA, Green Buffaloes, Green Eagles, and Forest Rangers. Coach Dabid Chilufya has a point to prove as a head coach and he is eager to make a statement.
