Zambia, South Africa clash in the Cosafa final

Host Zambia will face defending Champions South Africa in the 2019 Cosafa U20 Championship at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

Zambia thrashed Angola 3-0 in the semi finals while Amajita defeated Madagascar 6-5 on penalties after 2-all draw in regulation time.

South Africa have won the last two finals in Zambia and will be aiming for a third in row.

While Zambia is hosting the Cosafa U20 Championship for a third year running, the home fans have argued that Amajita won those titles in Kitwe and it has to take something special for them to win it in Lusaka.

A Patrick ‘Bomber’ Gondwe brace propelled Osward Mutapa’s fledlings to victory against Angola at Nkoloma Stadium on Thursday.

Burly striker Francisco ‘Yekini’ Mwepu wrapped it up with a late strike to earn Zambia a 3-0 win.

In a lunchtime kick off, Oswin Apollis scored brace to help South Africa come from 2 goals down to advance to the finals.

Zambia last won the title in 2016 and will be going for 12th Cosafa title.

Madagascar and Angola will play in a third and fourth playoff on Saturday.
