The Zambia national team will go in camp today (Sunday) to kick off preparations for the 2018 African Nations  Championship (CHAN) to be played in Morocco.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda has called 30 players for a four day residential camp.
Nyirenda will be looking for new striking partnerships after Brian Mwila and Justin Shonga whose goals carried the team to the finals signed for South African clubs.
Gamphani Lungu who netted 18 times for National Assembly on their way to promotion has received a debut call.
New call ups Lazarous Kambole of Zesco United and Friday Samu of Green Buffaloes will also be looking to get ahead of Alex Ngonga, Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba, Martin Phiri and Lubinda Mundia who have been part of the squad already.
Nyirenda has only named defender Solomon Sakala from the famous U20 class of 2017 as he has gone for a more experienced crop of players.
The lad who captained the U20 squad at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup  will have to stand tall against another debutant John Mwangeni who has received his first national team call up after some impressive displays for Nkana in the league run in.
Zambia is in Group B alongside Ivory Coast, Namibia and Uganda.
The tournament runs from January 13 to February 4.

I would Ave loved sautu, billy mutale, and Charles are there
,
my bro you have spoken my mind
What is it that Wadada sees in Alex N’gonga, and leaving out Diamond Chikwekwe?
How about Chitiya Mususu? The boy has some Mbesuma’s qualities, he needs to be given chance.
Ngonga is an attacking mid fielder not a striker.wada should try to use him as a midfielder not a striker.
Youremember Banda is a must. Ba coach you are blind!!!
Ba coach well done, for the provisional squard. My hope is that Alex ngonga will not make the final list otherwise we will go there to add up numbers. He will cost us, like he did in WCQ. His friends will put in the best but every time he will have chance it will go to waste and in the end team spirit will fade away. Please Ba coach do Zambia a favor and not include him in the final list. Complements of the season in advance.
Ngonga for me is way his past. @km I can’t see Ngonga playing as a midfielder. In the midfield you need quick thinkers. I’m sorry Alex Ngonga is not one of them. Period!!
Thought so also that lad youremember would make the provisional squad wada awe mwe.
