YOUNG PLAYERS MAKE THE CUT AS MICHO NAMES 42 FOR LOCAL CAMP
A number of impressive U-20 players have made Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s 42 member squad for a four-day local camp as he zeros in on his CHAN and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers squads.
COSAFA U-20 player of the tournament, Patrick Gondwe, Strikers Jonathan ‘Mbombo’ Munalula, and Francisco Mwepu, Midfielder Chanda Mukuka and defender Crawford Mwaba have all made the provisional squad.
Zambia U-17 star midfielder Dickson Ng’ambi has also made the squad. The squad is dominated by Super League players with standout performers like Zachariah Chilongoshi, Fred Mulambia, Luka N’guni, Collins Sikombe, and Leonard Mulenga.
The Eden University/FAZ National Division One has also provided a few players to the team. Kunda Nkandu and Albert Kangwanda are the notable players from the second tier of Zambian football.
The players will enter the residential camp in Lusaka on Sunday and break on March 5. Micho is expected to trim the number further after the local camp and is expected to remain with 30 players.
The Copper Bullets are preparing for the CHAN tournament and the back-to-back AFCON qualifying fixtures against Botswana on March 26 and another four days later.
Zambia will host Botswana before heading to Gaborone four days later.
