The race for 2023/2024 FAZ Women’s Super Division title is heating up with defending Champions, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club facing a stern challenge from Zegalicious, ZESCO Ndola Girls.
ZESCO Ndola Girls currently lead the log with 60 points after playing 23 games while Buffaloes are second with 58 points but have played a game less.
And this weekend the two teams will both be at Nationalist Stadium as they are involved in this weekend’s double header that will be beamed live on TV3 on Topstar.
ZESCO Ndola Girls are away to Nkwazi Queens in the early kick off as they look to extend their 19 match unbeaten run.
Nkwazi Queens on the other hand will be hoping to return to winning ways after failing to win in their last two games.
The return fixture saw ZESCO Ndola Girls record an emphatic 3-0 win.
Nkwazi Queens will look to their captain Enelesi Phiri for inspiration while ZESCO Ndola Girls have a number of inspirational figures in their ranks like Marjory Mulenga, Avell Chitundu, Vast Phiri, Penelope Mulubwa, Fridah Kabwe and the captain Melody Kapimpi.
In the second match of the day, The Defending Champions, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club welcome the National Assembly as they look to continue their dominance in the league.
The former COSAFA Champions are still unbeaten after 22 games with 18 wins and 4 draws. They face a team they beat 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
Assembly are however motivated from their recent form as they are unbeaten in their last three matches and are coming from a 3-1 win over ZISD.
Elsewhere, Queens Academy welcomes the Elite Ladies at the ZNS Rugby Ground in Kabwe.
Elite Ladies will look to build on their 3-0 win over YASA Queens over the weekend.
The Royal Girls are on a three match unbeaten run but face a team that beat them 4-0 in the reverse fixture.
Indeni Roses return to action this weekend for the first time since the untimely passing of Norin Betani.
They visit North Western Province to face Trident Queens as they aim to complete a double over the hosts.
Elsewhere Green Eagles welcome Kamfisa Police Blue Eagles at NASDEC.
Rachel Moono will lead the attack as looks to continue the race for the golden boot. She has so far netted 19 goals and only Charity Mubanga, 22 has scored more.
The action continues on Sunday as ZISD welcome Red Arrows, YASA Queens face ZANACO Ladies while the people’s favourite team of choice, Luyando Foundation Girls welcome winless Kabwe Celtic Queens.
