Winning my third Austrian Bundesliga title feels amazing -Enock Mwepu

The Chipolopolo midfield ace says winning a third title with Redbull Salzburg is an amazing feeling.

Mwepu has been influential for Jesse Marsch’s men with four goals and three assists in 24 matches. The 22-year-old midfielder told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview that he is grateful to be part of the Salzburg set up.

He went on to reveal that the club always has the desire to win the league every year which is so special. Salzburg has won the Austrian Bundesliga in seven straight seasons and has won a record 14 titles in total.

“It feels amazing to win my third Austrian Bundesliga title for the Club. The feeling and that desire of winning the title every year for this club is so special and am so grateful to be a part of this Fantastic Club,” he said.

The Austrian Bundesliga like most leagues in the world was put on hold back in March because of the Coronavirus epidemic and Mwepu feels personal training during quarantine helped him to stay in shape.

“It has been a great season, the first round was amazing until the corona pandemic, Nevertheless, we never stopped doing individual training which I think it helped me to gain some muscle and be 100 percent fit as we waited for the league to resume. I am glad we are now Champions again Austria,” he said.

The former Power Dynamos and Napsa Stars midfielder made his debut in the UEFA Champions League during a 4-3 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in October last year, providing an assist and creating another goal.

Mwepu says the team will be ready to get back to Europe’s top competition when their qualification is confirmed.

“Its a very big Competition, all teams, and players look forward to playing in it..Once Confirmed on our qualification, will be ready to compete and I just can’t wait for it next season.”

Compatriot Patson Daka is Redbull Salzburg’s top goalscorer with 24 goals and six assists to his name in 29 matches. Daka has two games to leapfrog Shon Zalman Weissman who is three goals above him on the top goalscorers chart.
