Zambia Under 17 National Team Captain Miguel Chaiwa is happy with the teams’ performance at the 2019 COSAFA Under-17 Men’s Championships which comes to an end today in Malawi and he is Confident the Junior Chipolopolo will emerge victorious over the Young Mambas of Mozambique.
Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew, Chaiwa said everyone has been waiting for this day to come and the team is in high spirit ahead of the grand finale.
“The performance of the team is really good and we have been waiting for this day to come and play in the final and the morale in camp is very high, ” he said.
“We came here with positive minds and we have been trying our level best to achieve great results, I am urging the fans back home to have patience in today’s final but they should expect positive results because we are working hard for that.”
The Morkved Soccer Club Defender anticipates a tough match against The Young Mambas but he is Optimistic of winning this match.
“It’s going to be a difficult match but we have been working hard together as a team and we have confidence that we are going to win this afternoon’s game.”
Coach Mutapa is likely to maintain his core players in his starting line up which defeated the defending Champions Angola 2-nil in the semi-final and will be counting on the free-scoring duo of Rickson Ng’ambi and Moses Mulenga who have scored a total of 8 goals between them 4 each in this year’s tournament alongside Peter Chikola who has 2 goals to his name to propel the Junior Chipolopolo to a maiden trophy.
Kelvin Mwanza could lead the midfield while Chaiwa will be the main man leading the Defence line to make sure Iford Mwale is Well covered in goal.
Zambia will lock horns with Mozambique in the 2019 COSAFA U17 Championships today in a match slated for Mpira Stadium with Kick-Off set at 14:30hrs to decide a new Champion to lift the trophy after the defending Champions Angola were eliminated by The Junior Chipolopolo in the semi-final
Meanwhile, in the 3rd and 4th Play-Off, Eswatini will take on Angola in a fight for Bronze medals.
11:00hrs – Eswatini Vs Angola
14:30hrs – Mozambique vs Zambia.
Both matches to be played at Mpira Stadium.
