Zambia Women National team ( Copper Queens) Captain Barbara Banda has revealed that her team will be aiming to win the 2018 Women Africa Cup of Nations which will be staged in Ghana between 17th and 1st December.
The EDF Logroño forward said her team will not go to the tournament to be mere participants but to fight for the title.
” As a team and as a captain we want aim high to qualify to the world Cup and not just participate. We want to win,” she said.
The Copper queens were drawn in group B alongside defending Champions, Nigeria, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea. Banda is however not fazed by the calibre of opponents they will face in the Group.
“We are not intimidated . The morale is very high in camp and the team is very focused,” she said.
“Our group looks like the toughest group but we won’t look at the names but we will focus so that we conquer them,” She said.
The former Green Buffaloes striker had a few words for the fans asking them to support the team.
” We ask for the fans to support us and we will do our best,” she said.
The tournament will act as a qualifier for the France 2019 Women World Cup with the top three set to book their places.
