Vandenbroeck set to name squad for Guinea Bissau

Chipolopolo Boys coach Sven Vandenbroeck is set to name a 26-man Chipolopolo Boys squad for next week’s back to back Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea Bissau.

The Belgian coach will name his squad [today] Wednesday at 09h00 at Football House.

The ZamFoot Crew understands that Red Arrows full back Jimmy Chisenga is likely to take Gamphani Lungu’s place in defence.

Chisenga has been in impressive form for Red Arrows and Vandenbroeck was in the stands as he watched the full back score one of the goals of the season at Sunset Stadium.

There could be also a possible inclusion for Chisenga’s teammate George Simbayambaya.

The ZamFoot Crew also understands that the Belgian coach has been monitoring Brian Mwila’s progress in Austria.

“The coach was happy that he played 84 minutes for his new club over the weekend,” the source said.

While Vandenbroeck considers Patson Daka and Justin Shonga of RB Salzburg and Orlando Pirates as his first choice strikers, that is not ‘re case for Zesco United’s Lazarous Kambole.

“Lazi is in similar predicament to that of Enock Mwepu. He needs to earn his replacement as the coach doesn’t rate him.

Zambia will host Guinea Bissau a week today at Heroes Stadium on match day 3 of the qualifiers.

Three days later, the West Africans will be at home to the Chipolopolo on match day 4.

The team is expected to have two training sessions on Monday and Tuesday because of little time.

With that in mind, the gaffer will not tinker and will maintain the same squad which faced Namibia and Gabon last month.

Mozambique and Guinea Bissau lead the group on 4 points while Namibia and Zambia have a point each.

I’m worried. Why are we naming a team only a week before the fixture?

There are foreign based players who need to travel. How much time does this leave for training?

Also, how can a coach not rate Mwepu who has proven himself time and again…just watch any game Mwepu has played wearing the national team jersey. I can almost say the same for Kambole.

Anyhoo, hope we win against Guinea Bissau. Another loss or draw and ine I’m done with Chipolopolo, until someone else takes the helm.
