UCL: Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu in Spain with Salzburg
Zambian duo of striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu traveled to Spain with their Redbull Salzburg teammates for this evenings UEFA Champions League clash against 2015/16 runners up Atlético de Madrid.
Patson Daka has now become Salzburg’s first-choice striker while Mwepu is an influential figure in the middle of the park and his versatility allows him to play almost all the positions on the pitch.
Salzburg head coach Jesse Marsch told a press conference yesterday that the teams’ target is to get some points today.
“We aim to take some points tomorrow. We know we are facing very strong opponents, and we have great respect for the coach and the team. We need to bring our strengths onto the pitch and play with a lot of confidence, above all,” he said.
Salzburg played out to a 2-2 draw in their first Group A game as they held by Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow with Patson Daka missing a late chance to steal the headlines while Atlético were handed a 4-0 bashing by Germany Bundesliga Champions, Bayern Munich.
Daka will be the key man for Salzburg having netted 27 goals last season in all competitions and this season he has already notched up 12 strikes with 6 assists in just ten appearances.
Kick-off at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid is set for 21:00 Central African Time (CAT).

RBS need at least 9 points to move to next phase – meaning win all home matches and bit of luck away.
Athletico are in decline.
Good luck gentlemen!!
Massive game…10 points you good to go!!
I don’t think so, RB will again find itself in Europa champions league….in group stage, they will end up at 3 position, just like last season.
I’m very happy that our team is doing well.We hope it will not reach here it’s still performing and I wish all the best to Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu. Another encouragement goes to Daka ,he should concentrate to this team ,he shouldn’t rush to move because Salzburg works as a team comparing to others.
Greetings fellow Chipolopolo fans! We got to watch the Salzburg v Madrid match today and it sure was exciting. Mwepu played a strong 90 minutes. It was really sad to see Daka go out with an injury after 30 minutes and Madrid proceed to score before he was replaced. Plays like that don’t seem fair but I realize it’s not against the rules.
Ba Zamfoot or a fellow fan please find out the seriousness of Daka’s injury as soon as you can and update us. It looked like a hamstring injury but the match was broadcast in Spanish so I didn’t get an explanation. Thanks everyone!
