U-15 national team trials off to a good start with Lusaka camp
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has started the process of forming the Zambia U-15 national team following the starting of trials for Lusaka yesterday at Barca Academy.
The Lusaka camp got off to a good start with 42 players currently being monitored.
The players this morning will be separated into four teams with the most promising going into team A and so on. The players for the Lusaka pool have been drawn from the FAZ under-14 and 16 zonal leagues.
“We have seen the players in small spaces with limited time to see how they behave and it has given us a picture of who can and who needs to progress,” Chipolopolo head coach Milutin Sredojeviç told the ZamFoot Crew after overseeing the training on Friday.
“Tomorrow (today) we shall have the pecking order of four teams and we will move from the small pitches to the big pitch and see that players are expressing their talents in the best possible way so that we can open the door for future U-17, U-20, U-23 and senior national team players who will take us to the world cup in the future,” he added.
Football Association of Zambia technical director Lyson Zulu told the ZamFoot Crew that this was part of the Association’s ten-year plan.
“We have a ten-year plan as the Football Association of Zambia which we calling vision 2030 looking at the2030 World Cup hypothetically,” Zulu said.
“The priority number one in this program is talent identification, priority number two talent development, and priority number 3 is talent management. As part of talent identification, we are doing trials for the under 15. We looking at players born in 2005, 2006, and 2007 to form part of the U-15,” he added.
The team will be comprised of the best possible players in this age group drawn from all the provinces and are expected to travel for an invitational tournament in Croatia next month.
