U-15 Invitational tourney: Zambia loses to Romania… To play third and fourth playoff
Zambia U-15 national team suffered their first loss of the ongoing Vlatko Markovic invitational Eight nations tournament in Croatia as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of log leaders Romania this morning in their second match of group B.
Zambia came into the match looking to make it two wins in two matches but was reduced to ten men just 31 minutes into the match after Emmanuel Kateka was given marching orders following a second bookable offense.
Zambia despite being a man down are the first to strike as they took the lead through Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda in the 61st minute, 1-0, first in the match and third for him in the tournament. Romania drew level eight minutes to time through Adrian Caragea before taking the lead in the final minute through David Stefan Nemtanu,2-1 the match finished.
Zambia under will however play the 3rd/4th playoff on Sunday against a team yet to be known despite their loss. The young Bullets finish second with four points while Romania finish as log leaders with seven points, Bosnia finish third with a point while Macedonia ends their campaign without a single point.
This follows the decision of the tournament committee that the postponed match between Zambia and Macedonia won’t take place which was scheduled for tomorrow 26th September 2020.
