Tigers break Nkana’s winning run

Lusaka Tigers have maintained they unbeaten run at Independence Stadium when they broke Nkana FC’s 5 match winning run when they held the log leaders to a 1 – 1 draw with a last minute equalizer.

Nkana were dominant in the first half and went ahead as early as the 19th minute when Austin Muwowo head home a Mcduff Chungu cross.

As was the case in the last game, Walter Bwalya failed to add to his three goal tally as he missed some good chances in the game and was unfortunate to score in his own net from a Tigers free-kick in the referee’s optional time.

The Tigers fans invaded the pitch after the final whistle to celebrate the draw.

Nkana remain top of the log on 13 points, 4 points ahead of second placed Nchanga Rangers.

Lusaka Tigers are third on the log with 8 points.

In the early kick-off, Steward Chikandiwa shot to the top of the top scorers chart when he helped Nkwazi to a second consecutive win which took them to fourth on the log.

The Police sponsored side beat Napsa Stars 2 – 0 with their second goal coming from Jeff Banda.

The loss means that Napsa will remain bottom of the log going into week 6.

  1. It was a good game . Security is lacking at independce ,the fans invaded the pitch after Tigers scored and faz should punish them. That was total madness.

  2. It was a good game to watch….turn out was good too. Off the topic a bit,I was just disappointed with the way the other side of the terraces looks surely the powers that be can do something to save this heritage site with a lot of history. Constructing heroes stadium next to independence stadium was a wrong move cause it rendered independence stadium useless but we need to preserve that stadium for the purpose of identity and history. That stadium defines who we are soccer-wise!

  3. What happened at independence stadium where two nkana supporters were stoned by tigers supporters and thank God their lives are stable, Hence if it was Nkana this time we are talking the news would have been haedline.

  4. The linesman on the near side (as viewed on tv)shud pull up his socks.its like he still hv 2 b taught when a player is offside.
