  1. In the second picture there is Evans Sakala,Former FAZ Veep Munaile,Litana and as for the others the picture quality is poor tabalemoneka but this was the reconstituted National team just after the Gabon air crash

  2. Evans “Vanva” Sakala,Munaile,Looks like George Shantumbu, Maybin Mgaiwa I think and Elijah Litana. Jersey indeed was ugly Sir Jojo!

      • I always thought Kingsley was a bulky guy but he looks tiny in the picture. Coach was Dick Chama and we finished top in the group standings and won a trophy I think.

    • in 1994 coach was late ian poaterfield and not dick chama. and the 1994 Africa cup was won by Nigeria not Zambian tho final was between Zambian and Nigeria. and the only team Zambian beat 4 nil was mali with those scorers. Zambian didn’t meet Ghana but ivory coast whom they beat one nil thru a goal from bubble malitoli. Zambian lost to Ghana in 1992 Africa cup pre quarter finals. please check your facts.the 1994 finals were in Tunisia-Tunis not Egypt-Cairo.

        • ZAMFOOT THANKS AND I HAVE ALREADY APOLOGISED. AGAIN WOULD SAY THANKS TO ACE WHO CAME OUT TO REMIND ME THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT TOURNAMENT.

      • Bwalya, maybe you should take time to read what’s in the text before telling Zamfoot – who are doing a great job with these Throwback Thursdays – to check their facts.

The date says 27.08.94 so it cannot be the Africa Cup. In fact, the Cup of Nations has not even been mentioned.

The matches mentioned above took place in Cairo, Egypt while the CAN tournament that you are thinking of took place in Tunisia.

It was a 3 team group and all the teams ended up with a win and a defeat after Zambia lost to Ghana 1-0 and Egypt beat Ghana 2-0 but Zambia came out tops due to their superior goal difference.

Ian Porterfield was the coach at the CAN but he resigned soon after Zambia lost to Belgium 9-0 around June of that year and Dick Chama took over as interim coach.

In short, it is you Bwalya, who needs to check your facts.

  4. @PARADOX LET THOSE WHO WERE THERE IN 1994 PLIZ HELP. 1994 NIGERIA VRS ZAMBIAN FINALS. MAY BE ITS ANOTHER TOURNAMENT. COACH IAN POTERFIELD CAPTAIN KALU. NIGERIA WON THRU GOAL FROM EMMANUEL AMUNIKE. TOURNAMENT WAS IN TUNISIA. 1996 TOURNAMENT WAS IN SOUTH AFRICA. AGAIN PARADOX DON’T BE ABUSIVE MY BROTHER WITH YOUR LANGUAGE.

    • @Bwalya, I don’t know why you you keep talking about the Africa Cup. If you read what Zamfoot and I have written, the photos above are about a different tournament which took place FOUR months after the CAN.

To respond to your comment – ‘MAY BE ITS ANOTHER TOURNAMENT.’ – Yes, IT WAS A DIFFERENT TOURNAMENT, not the Cup of Nations. That is what Zamfoot is trying to tell you.

If you insist on talking about the Africa Cup (when no one else has spoken about it), people like Paradox are left to wonder if you are able to read or just rush straight into contradicting Zamfoot.
