Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape has described the atmosphere at Dublin’s Tallaght Stadium on Thursday evening as excellent.
Zambia continued the FIFA Women’s World Cup build-up with a 3-2 defeat to Ireland.
“The atmosphere was excellent, it was like we were playing our first game at the World Cup,” the former Roan United and Nchanga Rangers coach said.
“It was good to see some Zambian fans also which helped the players, it was amazing,I’m happy,” he added
“To our fans, they just have to support the team going forward. We will do better than we did today (Thursday).
After the match, Barbra Banda led her teammates to the stand were around 40 Zambian fans were standing.
The players showed their
appreciation of the support they got from the UK based Zambians at the stadium.
The fans chanted and went into the famous ‘Chipolopolo iye’ chorus through out the match as they cheered on the girls from Lusaka.
The Copper Queens have returned to Germany.
They will play two more friendly matches against Switzerland and Germany before they head to the World Cup on New Zealand.
