The team is sharp and ready for CHAN- Benson Sakala
Chipolopolo CHAN squad vice-captain Benson Sakala believes his side is sharp and ready for the competition which kicks off this coming weekend.
“The team looks sharp and ready, despite the hot weather conditions here but we have adapted by this time,” he said.
The soft-spoken Power Dynamos midfielder who was speaking from Kadji Sports Academy, in Douala, Cameroon outlined that there is high competition in the squad following the addition of other players to make 33 from 23 players in the camp.
“The competition is very high, every player looks sharp and ready to be up for selection in the first game or Libya’s friendly game on Wednesday.”
Zambia faces Libya on Wednesday in what will be their final preparatory match before the commencement of the tournament on 16th January 2021 in Cameroon.
The Chipolopolo boys are in Group D alongside Tanzania, Guinea, and Namibia and will be based in Limbe.
Zambia participated in a Four-Nation Invitational Pre-Chan Tournament where they finished second after winning one match, drawing another, and lost to Uganda.
Chipolopolo’s opening match will be on January 19 against Tanzania before facing Guinea four days later. The final group match will be against Namibia on January 27.
