THE FANS WERE RIGHT TO JEER – CHRIS KAUNDA
Sensational Zanaco head coach Chris Kaunda defended the fans who started jeering the team towards the end of the 3-0 loss to Egyptian side Pyramids FC.
Kaunda told the ZamFoot Crew in a post-match interview that the fans were right because things were not okay and he did not expect them to cheer.
“Well it was not our day, That’s what I can tell you. It wasn’t our day,” he said.
” No, There was nothing wrong, They were disappointed. You don’t expect them to be cheering when things are wrong, They were right, ” he added.
Meanwhile Pyramids FC boss Ante Čačić was happy to end the Bankers unbeaten run in the CAF Confederation Cup this season.
“I said yesterday that we wanted to achieve a good result and we did it today. We beat a team that has not lost this season in Continental football which of course is a great thing and we did it as a team,” he said.
“I would like to salute Zanaco because it was not an easy match. We won the first meeting and there is still the second meeting in Cairo, we have to achieve a good result in it too.”
Goals from Ali Gabr, Mohamed Farouk and Abdalla El-Saed ensured the Egyptian side took an emphatic three-goal advantage ahead of the second leg.
Pyramids will host the Bankers in the second leg on Sunday, 8th March at 15:00hrs at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in al-Qāhirah, Cairo.
