Sunzu withdraws from Chipolopolo squad with Chiyangi’s blessings
Zambia national team defender Stophila Sunzu has withdrawn from the Chipolopolo squad ahead of this afternoon’s Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against Zimbabwe.
Sunzu, who turns out for French Ligue one side withdrew from the squad on Monday to attend to a personal commitment. Interim head coach Aggrey Chiyangi gave the towering center back his blessings to leave camp and attend to his family commitment.
Sunzu partnered Tandi Mwape in the heart of defense away in Blida on Thursday when the Copper Bullets were handed a humiliating 5-0 defeat by the near-unstoppable African Champions who have now gone 18 games without a loss, Winning 14 and only drawing 4.
In the absence of the 2012 AFCON winner, Kabaso Chongo is expected to return back to the middle and partner Tandi Mwape. Zesco United workaholic Clement Mwape is expected to be handed a starting berth at right-back with Lawrence Chungu keeping his place at left-back.
Zambia plays the Warriors of Zimbabwe this evening at 18:00hrs at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
