Sikombe brace helps Napsa close gap; Warriors fail to win against 9-men Zanaco

Napsa Stars has closed the gap to one point  on leaders Lusaka Dynamos while Zanaco moved to third but level with Zesco United on 22 points.

In the drop zone, Nakambala failed to moved out after they drew. Real Nakonde still remained bottom of the log after another disappointing performance.

Zanaco 2-0 Kabwe Warriors (Boyd Musonda 40, Toaster Nsabata 45′ pen)

Zambia Under-23 goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga made three crucial saves in the first 20 minutes but couldn’t hold his nerve after he gave away a soft penalty which Zanaco goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata converted.

Five minutes earlier, Zambia Under-20 Boyd Musonda opened the scores for the bankers.

The second half was spoiled by poor officiating as the referee made questionable decisions to sent off Zanaco’s Augustine Mulenga and Chongo Chirwa.

Warriors’ Jacob Phiri impressed on the left flank.

 

Mufulira Wanderers 1-2 Napsa Stars (Guily Manziba 5′ | Collins Sikombe 24′, 35′)

Influential midfielder Collins Sikombe scored a brace to help Napsa Stars to a 2-1 win over Mufulira Warriors. Napsa is a now on 25 points as the Tenant Chilumba coached side closed the gap on leaders Lusaka Dynamos.

‘Maite’ remain in the drop zone with 10 points.

 

Lumwana Radiants 3-0 Real Nakonde (Simon Nkhata 9′, Obed Masumbuko 13′, Chanda Mushili 76′)

Dubbed as North Western versus Muchinga Province, Luwana came out tops to hand Zambia’s 1994 no.9 Zeddy Saileti his first victory as coach.

 

Konkola Blades 1-1 Green Eagles (John Sikaumbwe 65′ | Venecious Mapande 30)

In a low key tie, much traveled Venacious Mapande gave the Choma the lead but it was cancelled out by John Sikaumbwe as the two sides settled for a draw.

 

Nakambala Leopards 1- 1 Red Arrows (Lameck Silwaba 47′ | Francis  Kombe 2′)

Veteran Francis Kombe scored the quickest goal of the day for Arrows but the Airforce side conceded as well 2 minutes after the break to a Lameck Silwaba goal.
