Shonga’s move to Yanga breaks down due to huge salary demands
Justin Shonga’s proposed move to Young Africans of Tanzania has reportedly broken down after the player demanded a huge salary.
According to Yanga Coach Luc Eymael, Shonga was asking for a monthly salary of US 15 000 something Yanga can not afford to pay him.
The Belgian gaffer however confirmed that he is very much interested in the Chipolopolo forward as he wants to partner him with Morrison.
“We were in contact with Justin Shonga. We tried to sign him but his requests, his demands were very high, asking 15 000 US dollars,” Eymael told South African publication KickOff.com in an interview.
“I don’t think we were going to be able to pay that. We are not able to afford him, and he will not also earn that money at Simba or somewhere else in Tanzania. But if he prefers to go to Simba than to come to Yanga that’s his problem.”
“I was interested in Justin Shonga for sure. I was interested in him playing with Morrison and another winger. We should have had a strong attacking line but I couldn’t reach Mr. Khoza and I couldn’t speak with him, and I couldn’t speak with Shonga himself,” he added.
The former Nkwazi striker has been out of favor at Pirates playing only a handful of games and i he is reported to be on the hunt for a new club.
