Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ reigns as he is named player of the year

Former Nkana FC striker Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba has been named the 2014 Zambian footballer of the year at the 2014 FAZ-MTN awards gala held at Moba hotel on Friday evening.

Kampamba who has since moved to Egyptian side Wadi Degla beat Zesco United duo of Nyambe Mulenga and Jackson Mwanza to the prize.

Mwanza however had consolation in missing the top award as he walked away with the golden boot after scoring 15 goals in the 2014 season.

U20 international and former Nchanga Rangers midfielder Larry Bwalya was named young player of the year shaking off a challenge from team mate at U20 Spencer Sautu and U17 captain Patson Daka who inspired Zambia to a historic CAF Championship qualification.

  1. Atfer being dribbled of the 2013 award bcoz of kalijo,”Sate Sate”proved a genius to win a fourth award in three seasons.
    Big up “Sate Sate”.

  2. Sate Sate winning the footballer of the year award is a huge indictment on Zambian football. It shows that Zambian football is in ICU and in need of resuscitation. It is wonderful for him to be declared king of the small pond that is Zambian football, but the huge sea of Afcon exposed him as an ordinary player. Congratulations to him nevertheless. He needs to improve massively to convince some of us.

  3. @Discipline, unfortunately the article is talking about Sate being footballer of the year looking at his performance in the last year. $ awards in three seasons is no mean achievement. Some of us have been working for many years and are yet to receive even an award for employee of the week.
