Renard kicks-off season without Sunzu

Herve Renard today returns to the French Ligue 1 in a tricky season opener against Champions PSG without his prized new signing Stopilla Sunzu.

Renard who was been contracted to coach Lille said ahead of the match that his only concern ahead of the match was his central defence with Basa having injured his toe and Sunzu still to gain enough fitness.

“My central defense [is of concern] yes, because Basa (hurt his toe during preparation) and Sunzu (still just physically) are not ready to play but we must accept the situation,” Renard said.

The match kicks off at 20:30hrs.

Lille finished the season in 8th position in the 2014/2015 season and will be looking to getting a UEFA Spot this season.

  1. Watching this Lillie side playing PSG leaves me in no doubt whatsoever that Rainford Kalaba can walk straight into the starting eleven. PSG down to ten men but still looking the more likely to break the deadlock.

  2. Lillie’s defence torn apart by a quick PSG counter attack ending in the Brazilian Lucas rounding up Enyama in goal for the opener. One nil PSG

  3. Kalaba is a very stup@d boy. He is not serious about his career but more interested in chasing Congolese women who have bewitched him. What sane human being would refuse to play for lille and stay at mazembe.

  4. Am wondering….. Can’t the new coach deploy sunzu in midfield since he is prone to injuries of late?….

  5. hard luck 2 lile loosing 1.nil to the defending champions its not 2 bad, they can finish the ligue in top 4. wishng lile all the best.
