Provincial U-23 squads to be assembled …To face CHAN squad in friendly games for a place in the team
Zambia national team head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojeviç has confirmed that he will go round the country with his technical bench on a scouting program.
The Serbian gaffer who was speaking during a press conference at Football house this morning said his technical bench will come up with provincial U-23 sides that will later play against the CHAN squad. The best players will then be topped into the CHAN squad set up.
Micho wants to leave no stone unturned on his quest to take Zambia back to glory days and says he wants to make sure no talented players are left out.
“We shall go into provinces and have compacted goalkeeping courses and scouting for the provinces. We don’t want to miss any talented player for example in Chinsali or Mansa but picked and brought for the good of the nation,” Micho told the ZamFoot Crew.
“We shall have two days visitation to the provinces, 1st day we will do education and capacity building of the technical team’s from the provincial leagues. ”
The second day we will make an under- 23 team from the provincial leagues and they will later play against our CHAN team so that we recognize and if we have left any player.
” Local-level is the first link in our selection and with that in mind we shall not leave and team unturned,” he added.
The 2021 CAF African Nations Championship finals were supposed to be staged last April but were moved to January 2021. Zambia is in Group D alongside Guinea, Tanzania, and Namibia.
Zambia’s best-ever finish at CHAN was in 2009 at the inaugural tournament in Ivory Coast when the Copper Bullets came out third.
