Provincial D1: Pirates, Maramba story unchanged
Maramba Stars came into this game with a newly assembled team as they began their Provincial division one campaign.
Stars dominated the game especially in the first half but neither they nor Pirates could break the deadlock in a not so much entertaining big derby on Sundays 0 – 0 Provincial Division One South at Busiku Grounds.
In front of the ‘Landlords’ faithfuls, the visitors had a number of good chances which were served by their former keeper Steven Onyango Chiyesu who replaced Peter in goal for Pirates. Both teams labored to break each other down in the hot heat at Busiku as the match was stopped halfway for the water break.
Maramba were the better side in the first half as the combination of Miya,Mizhe, Phineas, and Davies gave the Pirates defenders a tough time as they were out-number by the visitors.
In the second half, the visitors were under pressure as it began but they managed to contain it and the game became even as Pirates changed the approach of the game compared to the first half.
Maramba Stars could have found the much-needed goals as Thomas was the villain after he failed to connect a first time shot and blasted his effort wide from the close range. Both teams tried there level best to force a goal but their efforts were not good enough as the match ended goallessly
