Patson Daka to lead Salzburg’s hunt for a seventh Austrian cup title
Zambia national team striker Patson Daka is expected to lead Redbull Salzburg’s hunt for a seventh ÖFB Cup title this evening.
The Austrian Bundesliga defending Champions will square off with Austria Lustenau at the 32 000 capacity Wörthersee Stadion.
Daka is likely to partner Korea Republic forward Hee-Chan Hwang upfront as Coach Jesse Marsch is expected to go out guns blazing and defend the title his predecessor Marco Rose won last year.
Daka has been in fantastic form for Salzburg this season scoring 20 goals and making 8 assists in all competitions in 34 matches and in the cup he has scored twice and assisted 3 times in five matches.

His countrymate Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu will miss today’s game due to suspension as he was sent off in the semifinal clash against LASK Linz.
ROAD TO FINAL
Salzburg started their campaign with a 7-1 bashing of Parndorf in the first round before a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rapid Wien.
In the round of 16 Salzburg humiliated lower-tier side Ebreichsdorf 5-0 before thrashing Amstetten 3-0 in the quarter-finals.
In the semifinal, Salzburg needed a Hee-Chan Hwang strike to see off league log leaders LASK Linz 1-0 and set up a final with Lustenau.
Lustenau on the other hand saw off four lower-tier sides before seeing off Wacker Innsbruck in the semifinals.
Coach Jesse Marsch has a tough job of balancing his squad today to get a win and plan for Wednesday’s Bundesliga clash against Rapid Wien.
Cican Stankovic is likely to start in goal but Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos and youngster Philip Köhn may be given a chance to get some game time.
In defense Captain Andreas Ulmer, Patrick Farkas, Jerome Onguéné, and Max Wöber are expected to make up the back four.
Zlatko Junuzovic, Dominik Szoboszlai, Masaka Okugawa, and Antoine Bernede are likely to start but Mohammed Camara or Majid Ashmeru may be opted to take up Bernede’s place as he just returned from injury.
Upfront its very clear Hee-Chan Hwang will partner Patson Daka but Sekou Koita and youngsters Karim Adeyemi and Noah Okafor may just get the node ahead of one of the two.
Should Salzburg win the match they will make it six Cup titles in the last seven years having won all the cup finals since 2014 except in 2018.
