Patson Daka scores his 23rd league goal in Salzburg win… Mwepu puts in a full shift
The Chipolopolo forward scored his 6th goal since the return of the Austrian Bundesliga helping the defending Champions to a 3-1 win.
Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scores after just eight minutes. After Mohammed Camara did well to win the ball with a brilliant tackle, Daka and Mwepu did some beautiful interchange of passes before the latter’s long pass was deflected into Szoboszlai’s path who beat Alexander Schlager in the Linz goal.
Three minutes later, Daka doubled the lead with his 23rd league goal. Szoboszlai’s cross from the right win was only half-cleared by Filipovic, The 2017 CAF young player of the year rushed onto the loose ball and put it away with easy at the near post.
In the second half Patson Daka, Szoboszlai, and Hwang all had chances to make it 3-0 but failed to beat Schlager who was in top form in the evening.
LASK got back into the match and took over proceedings, dominating play which paid off in the 56th minute as Marko Raguz finished of Holland’s pass to pull one back for the visitors.
With ten minutes left to play, Albert Vallci headed in a Szoboszlai corner to restore Salzburg’s lead. Daka was withdrawn in the 84th minute to make way for defender Jerome Onguéné.

Daka is still two goals behind Shon Zalman Weissman in the Golden boot race as the Israeli forward was again on target on Sunday scoring in Wolfsberger AC’s 2-1 loss to second-placed Rapid Wien.
Mwepu put in another impressive 90-minute shift doing a lot of work in midfield and came close to getting his 3rd league goal of the season.
Other changes saw Karim Adeyemi and Masaka Okugawa replace Hee-Chan Hwang and Mohammed Camara in the 67th minute. Patrick Farkas came on for Vallci in the 84th minute and Noah Okafor for Szoboszlai in the 90th minute.
