Patson Daka assists and wins a penalty in Leicester City win

Chipolopolo forward Patson Daka assisted a goal and win a penalty as Leicester beat Swansea City 3-1 to open a ten point lead.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cool finish three minutes in – his 10th goal of the season – was followed by a 69th-minute penalty from Stephy Mavididi, also taking his personal tally into double figures. Second-half substitute Yunus Akgün then found his second goal in as many games with a side-footed hit into the bottom corner three minutes later.

Daka set up Dewsbury-Hall for the open before winning a penalty, storming away from Bashir Humphreys before being felled by Wood in the box.

The away dugout thought it was harsh, but referee Keith Stroud pointed to the spot in any case. Mavididi  stepped up to dispatch it with ease.

Experienced midfielder Joe Allen got one back for the Swans, but the Welshman’s scrambled 95th-minute effort came far too late to spark a revival.

City, who have played a game more than their rivals, are now 10 points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town and 11 clear of Southampton in third.

After three successive home games in eight days, one in the Emirates FA Cup, a trip to Stoke City’s next up on Saturday as Enzo Maresca’s men continue their bid for an immediate return to the Premier League.
