Paper Talk: FAZ to name Chipolopolo coach within 14 days

This is according to a Zambia Daily Mail report today quoting FAZ president Andrew Kamanga.

Kamanga disclosed this to the Mail following a meeting of the FAZ executive committee last weekend.

“Within two weeks a coach will be found because we do not have time, ” Kamanga is quoted by the paper saying.

The FAZ president, however, said Football House does NOT have a name in mind to take over the resigned Wedson Nyirenda.

While several coaches including former Chipolopolo boss Dario Bonetti and assistant Irfan Kawri have expressed interest, Kamanga said the FAZ executive had referred the matter of determining the new coach to the technical committee.

“How can you predetermine who should come here? The matter has been sent to the technical committee. We have just sent the matter to the technical committee. They will meet this week and deal with it,” Kamanga told the paper after the Saturday exco meeting.

And he emphasised that the technical committee would now decide on the matter of the new coach.

“There are important people in the technical committee. There is Patrick Kangwa, who was once upon a time chairman of ZAFCA (Zambia Football Coaches Association) and there is also Mr. Fred Mwila. These people know a lot about football.

“These are experts and are going to guide on how we go forward.”

Kamanga further explained, “The meeting is going to be held later in the week and the technical committee will report back to the executive committee and then a decision will be made and we will inform everybody.”

Kamanga also expressed dislike for speculations over the new coach.

“We don’t like speculation, we have not even advertised the job.

“During our meeting on Saturday we did not mention any name of a coach, no one was mentioned. We just said the matter will be dealt with by the technical committee,” he said.

  1. KAMANGA AND YOUR TEAM….YOU ARE AT IT AGAIN! THIS YOUR ‘BLACK MARKET’ KIND OF ADMINISTRATION WHERE YOU PICK COACHES LIKE TOMATOES AT SOWETO IS NOT HELPING OUR FOOTBALL AT ALL.PLEASE FOLLOW THE NORMAL RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS AND ONLY THEN WILL YOU BE ASSURED OF PICKING THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR THE JOB.CAMEROON ADVERTISED AND THOSE THAT QUALIFY APPLIED AND OUT OF THAT,THE BEST WILL BE PICKED AND THATS HOW IT WORKS.HANDPICKING A COACH IS NOT REALLY WORKING BECAUSE SOME ARE PICKED OUT OF FAVOUR BUT FOLLOWING THE RIGHT HUMAN RESOURCE CHANNELS IS THE BEST BECAUSE CANDIDATES ARE PICKED ON MERIT.
WELL WE CAN ONLY WAIT AND SEE BECAUSE REALLY THE 14 DAYS IS TOO LITTLE A TIME TO CHOOSE A COACH…..THIS IS PURELY CHIPANTEPANTE!
THE CONSOLATION THOUGH IS THAT WADA IS HISTORY.

  2. Currently we don’t have a full list of who has applied for this job. Difficult to comment.

  4. FAZ at it again how can they handsomely pay a coach when they have FAILED to pay our once vibrant shepolopolo ladies. My heart really bleeds when I see the talent of our GRACE CHANDA from Ndola going to waste. FAZ stinks corruption.

  5. FAZ at it again how can they handsomely pay a coach when they have FAILED to pay our once vibrant shepolopolo ladies. My heart really bleeds when I see the talent of our GRACE CHANDA, the striker from the Costa Rica outing go to waste. Please pay these wonderful talented ladies elyo Ba Kamanga kindly follow your the FAZ constitution when dealing with all matters.

  6. I’ve read from the social media that the government has no money for an expatriate coach which maybe this is the reason why Mr kamanga isn’t hitting the nail to the head,I thought now that we’re able to make kits for ourselves we’re not spending much money now why is Mr Edgar not as patriotic as Mr sata was to football ? for he gave it all to soccer.
