Official: Chisamba Lungu returns to Zanaco…As he pens a two-year deal
Zambia Super League side Sensational Zanaco have confirmed the acquisition of former Russian based midfielder Chisamba Lungu.
According to a post on their official website, Lungu who has returned to Sunset Stadium after 12 years has penned a two-year deal.
“Zanaco Football Club is pleased to announce the addition of Chisamba Lungu to its Squad. Lungu, a member of the 2012 Afcon winning squad has joined the bankers on a two-year contract which will keep him at Sunset until 2022.”
The 29-year-old was a free agent after leaving Nkana last month. Lungu left Zanaco in 2008 to join Georgia’s FC Baia Zugdidi just after a single season and then went on to also play for Russian side Ural and Turkey’s Alanyaspor before returning home to join Buildcon in 2018.
Zanaco General Manager Marlon Kananda believes he will help in motivating youngsters.
“Lungu is an experienced player and him coming on board will motivate the young players. There will be more competition among the players which is what we want,” Kananda told the club’s official website.
“Lungu is an exciting player to watch and I am confident that he will add value to the team and deliver.”
Lungu will add more options to Zanaco’s talented midfield which has the likes of Souleymanou Moussa, Kelvin Kapumbu, Kiala Lassa, William Njobvu and Saith Sakala.
