Numba explains how Zanaco outclassed Cano Sports
Zanaco Football Club head coach Numba Numamba says the Banker’s 5-1 win over Equatoguinean Champions Cano Sports Academy was a result of analyzing and studying their style of play especially after having difficulties away at Estadio de Malabo even though his side recorded a 3-1 victory.
Numba says his team had to deny the visitors space because they are a good side that could have easily punished his side.
“I would like to Congratulate my fellow coach, he has assembled an excellent team. It was not an easy game in Malabo due to the condition of the pitch because it’s raining that side. We struggled a bit especially in the first half, they were on top of things and looked more comfortable on the ball. But after analyzing them we thought of putting pressure on them and denying them space because that’s their strength and that’s exactly what we did at Heroes Stadium because once you give them space it’s a team that can torment you,” Numba said.
“We managed to get the goals that we wanted. We planned to get at least two goals in the first half and we did that which even motivated us and we kept on pushing and scored more goals in the second half,” he added.
He further said that they are aware of the challenge ahead of them and his team will start preparing and be ready for the group stage.
“This is the time to get down to work and prepare our team for the challenge ahead of us because as we progress the competition gets stiffer. So all we need is to start planning and make sure our team is ready to compete,” Numba told the ZamFoot Crew.
A double Brace from Roger Kola and Captain Ziyo Tembo and one from Ernest Mbewe were enough to seal the banker’s Qualifications to the CAF Confederations Cup Group Stages winning 5 goals to 1.
Cano Sports Academy scored the Consolation through Salif Diarra and the overall aggregate was 8-2 in favor of Zanaco who await the draws to see whom they will meet in the group stages.
